What We Teach:
JPD offers ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, hip hop and modern dance classes for ages 3 and up. Private lessons and competition classes are available. Although most classes are set up basically by age, advancement is determined by ability. We do not feel it is fair to restrain a child from excelling mearely because of age.
Special Events:
Reviews are given annually by the JPD teachers in late January and early February and also after our yearly recital. These reviews help to insure the students are progressing at their levels and that every technique is being done correctly. It is important that students know their terms. This also helps teachers to emphasize those aspects in which students need improvement. We work off of a syllabus that we developed to enable dancers to be ready for future advancement in dance, such as film, television, videos, college scholarships and teaching jobs.
Annual Reviews:
Throughout the year - especially during the summer, we offer educational and fun events. We want to keep students involved in a health atmosphere and offer specialty classes, guest teachers, improvement goals and charts, beach parties and New York trips.
Summer Recital:
Our annual Recital is held each June. Each class your student is in will perform one routine. There is an additional cost for costumes, tickets and a few other items. Our recital is our biggest annual event. It gives the students a chance to perform in front of an audience, and provides great memories for all. We also provide a photographer and videographer to capture these lifetime memories.
Competition Team:
We have an award winning competition team. Competitors are selected by the JPD staff, and compete 3 to 6 times a year locally, as well as National Competitions in Las Vegas. Competitors are required to take technique classes and ballet classes, as well as their regular classes. There are additional costs for practice classes, costumes and entry fees. Students learn the value of discipline, hard work, winning, losing and more.
